How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN Teaching Assistant – Year 5 Down Syndrome Support

    Location: Whetstone, Barnet

    Salary: £102–£105 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications

    Contract: Full-time, temporary – initially eight weeks

    Start Date: 1 October 2026

    Teach Now is seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with Down syndrome.

    The Role

    As the SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to help the pupil participate confidently in lessons and school life.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.

    • Adapting activities and breaking learning into manageable steps.

    • Supporting communication, social interaction and positive peer relationships.

    • Encouraging independence with learning, organisation and daily routines.

    • Assisting during transitions and less structured periods where required.

    • Following agreed strategies and providing feedback on the pupils progress.

    • Supporting the wider Year 5 class when appropriate.

    The Ideal Candidate

    Our ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will have:

    • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school.

    • Experience working 1:1 with a child, ideally with Down syndrome, speech and language needs, learning difficulties or developmental delay.

    • The ability to adapt communication and learning activities appropriately.

    • A patient, nurturing and consistent approach.

    • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

    • A genuine commitment to inclusion and helping children become more confident and independent.
