Academics are currently recruiting for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Nursery Assistant to join a welcoming school in Berkhamsted from October 2026.

The Nursery Assistant role
Working alongside the class teacher and Early Years team, you will:
Support children with their learning, development and day-to-day activities
Help create a positive, stimulating and safe learning environment
Encourage children's communication, confidence and independence
Support individual children and small groups with Early Years activities
Assist with observations and maintaining appropriate records of children's development
Follow the school's safeguarding, health and safety, and Early Years procedures
Build positive relationships with children, staff and parents
Help maintain a clean, organised and welcoming classroom environmentWhat we're looking for
The ideal Nursery Assistant will:
Hold a Level 2 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or a relevant equivalent - desirable
Have previous experience working with Nursery or Early Years-aged children
Be warm, patient and enthusiastic about supporting young children's development
Have a good understanding of safeguarding and the importance of children's welfare
Be reliable, proactive and confident working as part of a team
