How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Data Governance Lead

    I am recruiting for a financial services client who is looking to hire a Data Governance Lead to join their data team. This role will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Data Strategy, working closely with business and technology stakeholders to identify, define and govern critical data assets. The role will contribute to enhancement of the Data Governance Policy, promote data ownership and stewardship and support initiatives that improve the quality, consistency and integrity of the Firm's data.

    The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and stakeholder management skills, enabling them to communicate the objectives and benefits of the Data Strategy effectively at all levels of the organisation and drive the adoption of Data Governance principles and best practices throughout the Firm.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Maintain and enhance the content of the Firm's Data Catalogue, including business glossary definitions, data lineage, ownership, classifications and governance metadata.
    Support the identification, assessment and remediation of Data Quality Issues, working with stakeholders to improve the accuracy, completeness and consistency of data.
    Contribute to the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of Data Governance Policy, standards, procedures and controls.
    Support the implementation and embedding of the Firm's Data Governance Policy across business units and functional departments.
    Work with business stakeholders to identify and document Data Owners, Data Stewards and associated accountabilities.
    Build effective working relationships with stakeholders across business and technology functions.
    Coordinate Data Governance Forums, ensuring actions, decisions, risks and issues are appropriately documented and tracked.
    Experience with Data Governance, Metadata Management or Data Catalogue platforms.
    Experience documenting and maintaining Data Lineage and Business Glossaries.
    Knowledge of Data Quality frameworks, controls and remediation processes.
    Understanding of data-related regulatory and risk management requirements applicable to financial institutions.
    Knowledge of SQL, relational databases and data modelling principles.
    Experience supporting large-scale data or technology transformation initiatives.
    Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business or a related discipline.
    Experience working in Data Governance, Data Management, Business Analysis or Data Analysis roles within a financial institution.
    Good understanding of banking data, reporting and operational processes within financial services organisations.
    This is a permanent role based in London (office located in central London, easily commutable), offering hybrid working such as three days a week in the office.
    Salary on offer is £80,000 - £90,000 base plus other benefits such as private medical, pension etc.
