How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Fire Risk Assessor – Residential / Leasehold

    Salary: £45,000–£55,000
    Location: Essex
    Working Pattern: Hybrid
    Employment Type: Permanent

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fire Risk Assessor to join a growing residential property management business, supporting a portfolio of purpose-built residential and leasehold developments.

This is a field-based technical role for an experienced assessor who can work independently, produce technically robust assessments and provide clear, proportionate recommendations across a residential property portfolio.

    The Role

    *

Complete Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) across purpose-built residential and relevant mixed-use buildings.

    *

Assess building context, occupancy, means of escape, fire strategy and existing fire-safety controls.

    *

Identify and accurately record fire-safety findings and provide clear, proportionate recommendations.

    *

Produce concise, evidence-led and technically defensible reports.

    *

Assess and review fire doors, compartmentation, alarms and smoke-control systems within your area of competence.

    *

Identify when specialist input or further investigation is required.

    *

Review contractor evidence and ensure material actions are properly evidenced before closure.

    *

Maintain accurate records, photographs, schedules and audit trails.

    *

Work closely with Property Managers, residents, contractors, boards and other stakeholders.

    *

Communicate technical findings clearly and challenge unsafe assumptions where necessary.

    *

Support peer review and provide practical guidance to less experienced colleagues and Property Managers.

    *

Prioritise higher-risk work appropriately while maintaining quality and technical independence.

    About You

    The successful candidate will have:

    *

At least 3 years' practical Fire Risk Assessment experience.

    *

Strong experience working across purpose-built residential buildings.

    *

Experience completing a meaningful volume of FRAs independently.

    *

Strong understanding of fire doors, passive fire protection, means of escape, alarms and smoke-control systems.

    *

Experience working with incomplete evidence and contractor remediation records.

    *

    Strong report-writing and evidence-management skills.

    *

The confidence to make independent, proportionate professional judgements.

    *

Excellent communication skills when dealing with Property Managers, residents, contractors and clients.

    Essential Qualifications

These are mandatory requirements for the role:

    *

Current registration on the IFSM National Fire Risk Assessors Register at Intermediate Level – Tier 2 or above.

    *

ABBE Level 3 Award in Fire Door Inspection.

    *

Minimum 3 years' practical Fire Risk Assessment experience.

    *

Strong direct experience within purpose-built residential buildings.

    *

Full UK driving licence and ability to travel independently between sites.

Candidates who do not hold the required IFSM Tier 2+ registration and ABBE Level 3 Fire Door Inspection qualification will not be considered.

    What's on Offer

    *

    £45,000–£55,000 depending on experience.

    *

    Permanent position.

    *

    Hybrid working.

    *

Opportunity to work across a varied residential and leasehold portfolio.

    *

A technically focused role with genuine responsibility for fire-safety standards and risk management.

If you're an experienced Fire Risk Assessor with strong residential experience and the required IFSM Tier 2+ and ABBE Level 3 qualifications, we'd be keen to hear from you.

Please note: Due to the volume of applications, if you have not heard from us within 48 hours of applying, unfortunately your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion
