How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Domestic Plumber
    Company Overview
    Our client has been established for over 40 years and is one of the UK’s most highly awarded plumbing and heating companies, serving a loyal customer base across Kent and South London.
    The business employs 35 full-time members of staff across its Orpington and Beckenham offices and engineering teams. They take great pride in their people, the quality of their workmanship and the service they provide.

    The Role
    We are looking for an experienced, reliable and customer-focused Domestic Plumber to join the engineering team.
    The role involves carrying out planned and reactive plumbing maintenance, fault finding, repairs and installations across a range of domestic properties.
    You will work closely with the Operations Team and customers to ensure all work is completed efficiently, professionally and to a consistently high standard.
    This role would suit an experienced Plumber who takes pride in their workmanship, has excellent attention to detail and is confident working independently in a busy service environment where priorities can change throughout the day.

    Salary & Package

    £38,000 – £42,000 per annum, depending on experience.
    Company van provided with fully expensed fuel.
    Overtime available.
    Overtime paid at time and a half Monday to Saturday and time and a third on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
    Call-out rota, currently approximately one week in rotation, depending on the number of engineers on the rota.
    Weekend & Bank Holiday call-out: £100 standby payment plus 50% of the labour charge.
    Monday to Friday call-out: no standby payment, plus 50% of the labour charge.
    23 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
    NEST pension scheme.

    Main Responsibilities

    Carry out planned and reactive domestic plumbing maintenance and repairs.
    Attend plumbing breakdowns and diagnose faults efficiently.
    Carry out domestic plumbing installations, repairs and replacements.
    Work on a wide range of domestic plumbing systems, fixtures and fittings.
    Repair and maintain water supplies, pipework, taps, toilets, showers, cylinders and other plumbing components.
    Install, maintain and repair hot and cold-water systems.
    Work with unvented cylinders and associated components.
    Identify and repair leaks, blockages and other plumbing issues.
    Carry out fault finding and identify appropriate repair solutions.
    Liaise professionally with customers and provide clear explanations of works carried out.
    Identify additional works and report requirements to the Operations Team.
    Keep the Operations Team updated on job progress and any issues encountered.
    Manage daily workloads effectively and complete jobs within required timescales.
    Participate in the call-out rota when required.
    Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with current legislation, regulations and company procedures.
    Maintain tools, equipment and company property to a high standard.
    Represent the company professionally at all times.
    Skills & Experience
    Essential

    Minimum 3 years' experience as a domestic Plumber.
    Relevant City & Guilds, NVQ or other recognised plumbing qualifications.
    Strong knowledge of domestic plumbing systems, components and installations.
    Proven experience carrying out plumbing maintenance, fault finding and repairs.
    Experience working with hot and cold-water systems.
    Experience working with unvented cylinders.
    Good understanding of pipework, valves, fittings and plumbing fixtures.
    Ability to diagnose plumbing faults and identify appropriate solutions.
    Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
    Strong customer service and communication skills.
    Professional and considerate manner when dealing with customers.
    Ability to manage workload effectively and work to deadlines.
    Full UK driving licence.
    Proactive, dependable and comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
    Desirable

    Experience working within a domestic service and maintenance environment.
    Water Regulations qualification.
    Experience working alongside heating engineers on combined plumbing and heating projects.
    Additional plumbing or heating-related qualifications.
