How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Residential Property Solicitor

    Hatfield, Hertfordshire | £80,000 + Performance Bonus | Office-Based

Are you an experienced Residential Property Solicitor or senior conveyancing professional looking for a role where you can genuinely make your mark?

We are working with a successful and growing law firm in Hatfield that is looking for a Senior Residential Property Solicitor to take a leading role within the business. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious property professional who wants more autonomy, greater responsibility and the opportunity to help shape the future direction of a conveyancing department.

    The Role

You will manage a busy caseload, primarily covering residential sales and purchases, while also handling commercial property and commercial conveyancing matters when required.

Alongside your own fee-earning responsibilities, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the office, providing leadership and direction to paralegals and administrative staff and ensuring the team operates efficiently and to a high professional standard.

You will also have the opportunity to become a key figure within the firm's senior management structure, working closely with the owner to improve processes, drive performance and support the continued growth of the business.

    Key responsibilities include:

Managing a busy residential property caseload from instruction through to completion.
Handling residential sales, purchases and other property matters.
Undertaking commercial property and commercial conveyancing work where required.
Taking responsibility for the day-to-day running and organisation of the office.
Supervising, supporting and holding paralegals and administrative staff accountable.
Maintaining excellent standards of legal work, file management and regulatory compliance.
Ensuring matters progress efficiently and clients receive a consistently high level of service.
Managing client expectations, providing regular updates and dealing confidently with concerns.
    Monitoring productivity, billing and profitability.
Supporting the owner with the effective running of the firm.
Taking responsibility for relevant SRA obligations, including COLP and COFA responsibilities.
Contributing to business development and the expansion of the firm's property offering.
Working collaboratively with the litigation and probate teams where required.

    About You

We are looking for an experienced property professional who is ready to take the next step in their career.

You may be a Senior Residential Property Solicitor, Head of Conveyancing, Conveyancing Manager or an accomplished Senior Conveyancer looking for a genuine leadership opportunity.

    You will ideally have:

    Strong experience in residential conveyancing.
The ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently.
Experience of commercial property/conveyancing, or the willingness and ability to undertake this work.
Previous experience managing a conveyancing team, department or office.
A strong track record as a fee earner with excellent billing performance.
    Excellent client-care and communication skills.
The confidence and authority to lead a team and hold colleagues accountable.
A commercially minded approach to productivity, efficiency and profitability.
A proactive, self-starting attitude and the ability to get up to speed quickly.
An interest in business development and helping grow the firm's property offering.
The ability to balance fee earning with management, supervision and regulatory responsibilities.

    What's on Offer?

    £80,000+ salary, depending on experience.
Performance-related bonus linked to the firm's financial performance and revenue targets.
Employer-funded parking permit for a nearby multi-storey car park.
A genuine senior leadership opportunity with substantial autonomy.
The chance to shape and develop the conveyancing department.
High-quality residential and commercial property work.
A close-knit, supportive and personal working environment.
Direct involvement in the firm's future growth and business development.
The opportunity to work closely with the owner and have a meaningful influence on the direction of the business.

    The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to be more than just another fee earner.

You will have the autonomy to lead, influence and improve the way the property function operates, while continuing to use your own technical conveyancing expertise. For the right individual, this role offers the chance to become a key part of the firm's leadership team and play a significant role in its continued growth.

If you're an experienced property professional looking for a senior position with genuine responsibility, autonomy and the opportunity to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
