How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Site Manager
Client - Tier 1 main contractor
Project - new build education, circa £70m
Freelance Rate - £330 - £400 per shift NEG DOE (CIS Preferred)
Duration: Long term - 2 years until 2028

I am recruiting for a client looking for a Senior Site Manager to join their team as soon as possible, subject to successful interview and referencing - key details as follows:

    The Project / Role
It's a major circa £70m new-build education scheme for a Tier 1 national main contractor, with approximately 150 operatives on site.
You'd be taking ownership of a defined section of the works, covering:

Teaching block — steel erection, pile caps and ground beams, leading into external envelope installation, with lifting operations throughout
Sports block superstructure — roofing, external cladding and internal slab formation
Drainage — overseeing and coordinating the sequence of works
Internal fit-out — once the superstructure completes, driving the programme and sequence, and overseeing the designated managers responsible for each fit-out section The Team Around You
You'd be coordinating directly with the subcontractors' own designated managers and overseeing Site Managers beneath you — so this is a genuine senior appointment rather than a single-trade/package management role.
    The Details

Rate: Circa £330–£400 per shift, negotiable DOE (CIS preferred)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am–6:00pm (including a one-hour break)
Saturdays: Some Saturday working will be required
Start Date: As early as w/c 14th September 2026 — longer notice periods may be considered for the right candidate
    Duration: Genuine long-term requirement — circa 2 years / through to 2028
Cards & Certificates: CSCS Card (Black or White) + SMSTS + First Aid at Work (all in date) What They're Looking For

A proven Senior Site Manager track record with a well-known Tier 1/main contractor or major developer, ideally on large-scale projects of comparable size and complexity
Demonstrable project stability is essential — the client is specifically looking for candidates who can evidence substantial durations on major projects, ideally 2+ years and/or through significant phases of delivery
Experience managing site operations on large, complex projects with substantial subcontractor and operative numbers
Previous education/schools experience would be highly advantageous, particularly experience delivering major DfE schemes
Strong ability to read and interrogate drawings, with the confidence to challenge conflicting or unclear information before it impacts delivery
Strong programme awareness — able to coordinate sequencing, identify slippage and drive subcontractors to recover lost time
Strong logistical awareness and the ability to anticipate and resolve site constraints
An excellent communicator, able to manage subcontractors firmly and professionally and drive performance against programme
Professional conduct with contractors, management and operatives alike Genuine commitment to the full duration is essential. The client is looking for someone who intends to see the programme through rather than move on part-way.
If your recent assignments have been shorter, please provide some context as to why they ended — completed scope/package, project completion or planned contract end are all perfectly normal, and I'd rather present that context to the client upfront than have a shorter duration viewed without explanation.

    Timescales / Next Steps
The client is reviewing CVs now, with the requirement due to start as early as w/c 14th September. Longer notice periods may be considered for the right candidate, so please don't be put off if you're not immediately available.

If you're interested, please reply with:

Your latest CV, including your postcode and contact details
    Your availability for a call
Details of two recent assignments that can be referenced (referee contact details can follow after we've spoken)
Confirmation that you're comfortable with the 7:30am–6:00pm working hours plus some Saturdays
If applicable, a brief explanation of any shorter recent assignments and whether these ended due to completion of your scope/package, project completion or planned contract end If it's not for you but you know someone who'd fit the requirement, I'd be grateful for a recommendation or if you could forward my details on
