How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role
As Lead Electrical Engineer, you will:
    - Lead and coordinate electrical design activities across a range of industrial engineering projects.
    - Lead, mentor and develop a team of Electrical Engineers.
    - Allocate workload, plan engineering resources and prioritise activities against project deadlines.
    - Define electrical architectures, schematics and system-level design strategies.
    - Review and approve electrical designs, calculations and technical documentation.
    - Oversee the creation of wiring diagrams, control panel designs, cable schedules and power distribution layouts.
    - Lead the selection and specification of electrical components including protection devices, contactors, relays, sensors and power electronics.
    - Carry out and validate electrical calculations including load, fault current, cable sizing and protective device coordination.
    - Ensure designs meet customer requirements and relevant safety and electrical standards.
    - Lead technical design reviews, risk assessments and failure analysis activities.
    - Support engineering projects from initial concept through prototype, production, testing and commissioning.
    - Work closely with Mechanical, Controls, Manufacturing and Quality teams.
    - Act as a senior technical escalation point for electrical engineering issues.
    - Drive standardisation, continuous improvement and engineering best practice across the department.
    - Identify opportunities to introduce new technologies, tools and design methods.

    The Lead Electrical Engineer
We are looking for someone with:
    - Proven experience leading or managing an Electrical Engineering team - essential.
    - A strong hands-on background in electrical design.
    - Experience with electrical CAD packages such as SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or equivalent.
    - Strong understanding of 3-phase power systems, LV/MV distribution, control circuits and protection.
    - Experience designing electrical systems for industrial machinery, power equipment, switchgear or other complex engineered products.
    - Ability to review and approve technical designs and electrical calculations.
    - Experience coordinating engineering workloads and managing multiple projects.
    - Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
    - Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
    - Ideally 6+ years' electrical engineering experience with previous project or team leadership responsibility.

This would suit an established Lead Electrical Engineer or an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer who already has genuine team leadership responsibility and is ready to take ownership of a wider electrical engineering function
