How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently looking for an experienced Planning Engineer to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, supporting a diverse portfolio of major infrastructure projects across the UK.

    The successful candidate will work across a mixture of Rail, Water and Data Centre projects, providing planning and project controls support throughout the project lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for a Planner looking to gain exposure to multiple infrastructure sectors while working alongside experienced engineering, project management and project controls teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    Develop, maintain and update detailed project programmes using Primavera P6.
    Support projects across the rail, water and data centre sectors, from design and pre-construction through to delivery.
    Produce baseline programmes, progress updates, forecasts and look-ahead schedules.
    Monitor progress against agreed baselines and identify potential delays, risks and programme impacts.
    Undertake critical path and schedule analysis, highlighting areas requiring corrective action.
    Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Design Managers and commercial teams to ensure programmes accurately reflect project delivery.
    Integrate information from multiple disciplines and workstreams into coordinated project schedules.
    Support programme change control, assessing the schedule impact of changes and emerging risks.
    Produce clear programme reports, dashboards and management information for project and client stakeholders.
    Assist with schedule risk, scenario planning and mitigation strategies.
    Attend progress meetings and communicate programme performance to internal and external stakeholders.
    Support continuous improvement of planning and project controls processes across the wider programme.

    Experience Required

    Previous experience working as a Planner / Planning Engineer within infrastructure, engineering or construction.
    Experience within Rail, Water, Data Centres or another major infrastructure environment.
    Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.
    Good understanding of project planning principles, including critical path analysis, baselining, forecasting and progress measurement.
    Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering or project delivery teams.
    Understanding of project controls processes including risk, change, cost and schedule management.
    Experience working within a consultancy, client-side or major contractor environment would be advantageous.
    Knowledge of NEC contracts would be beneficial.
    Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
