How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Central London (Hybrid Working)
    Contract Type: Contract
Duration: Initial 6 Months (Extension Likely)
    IR35 Status: Outside IR35
    Hours: Full-Time
    Industry: Offshore Oil & Gas

    The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Structural Engineer to support a leading engineering organisation delivering projects within the offshore oil and gas sector.

This role will focus on the structural analysis, assessment and design of offshore equipment and structures, with a particular emphasis on advanced simulation and finite element analysis using ANSYS. The successful candidate will join a highly skilled engineering team responsible for delivering technically challenging projects from concept through to detailed design and execution.

This is an initial 6-month contract, offering the opportunity to work on complex offshore engineering projects, with a strong likelihood of contract extension.

The assignment is offered Outside IR35, making it suitable for Limited Company contractors.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Perform structural analysis and engineering calculations for offshore structures and equipment.

    * Develop and execute finite element analysis (FEA) models using ANSYS.

    * Conduct assessments relating to strength, fatigue, buckling, lifting, transportation and installation load cases.

    * Prepare and review engineering reports, technical specifications and design documentation.

    * Support concept, FEED and detailed design activities.

    * Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, structural and project engineering disciplines.

    * Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes and client specifications.

    * Participate in design reviews, HAZIDs and technical meetings as required.

    * Provide technical support throughout project execution and delivery.

    Essential Requirements

    * Degree-qualified in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

    * Minimum 10 years' experience in structural engineering.

    * Advanced experience using ANSYS for finite element and structural analysis.

    * Previous experience within the offshore oil and gas industry.

    * Strong understanding of offshore design methodologies and structural behaviour under complex loading conditions.

    * Experience producing engineering calculations, technical reports and design documentation.

    * Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes.

    * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

    * Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a project team environment.

    Desirable Experience

    * Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership.

    * Experience in offshore structures, topsides, jackets, subsea equipment, lifting structures or transportation analyses.

    * Familiarity with API, DNV, Eurocodes and offshore engineering standards.

    * Experience supporting fabrication, installation or offshore operations.

    Contract Details

    * Initial 6-month contract with strong extension potential.

    * Outside IR35 engagement.

    * Suitable for Limited Company contractors.

    * Hybrid working arrangement with 2 days per week required in the Central London office.

    * Full-time contract hours.

    * Competitive hourly or daily rate available.

    Apply

If you are an experienced Structural Engineer with strong ANSYS capability and a background in offshore oil and gas projects, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss this contract assignment with you. Please apply with your latest CV for immediate consideration
