How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Field Service Engineer
    Location: Aldridge / West Midlands
    Basic Salary: Up to £34,000
    Benefits: Door to Door pay, Company vehicle and fuel card
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 40hrs

    We are currently recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join a well-established business based in Aldridge.
    This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer, ideally with a background working on forklift trucks or similar material handling equipment, to join a growing team.
    The role will primarily focus on planned servicing and preventative maintenance, rather than complex breakdown work. You will be responsible for carrying out routine servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements and general maintenance checks, ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable and operational.

    Your responsibilities will include servicing of forklifts:
    Safety inspection – brakes, steering, horn, lights, seat belt, warning devices and emergency systems.
    Hydraulics – checking hydraulic oil, hoses, cylinders, leaks and lifting performance.
    Mast and forks – inspecting forks for wear/cracks, mast chains, rollers, carriage and lifting mechanism.
    Engine/battery – checking engine fluids and filters on diesel/LPG models, or battery condition, charging and connections on electric forklifts.
    Tyres/wheels – checking tyre condition, pressure and wheel components.
    Lubrication – greasing moving parts and pivot points.
    Fluid levels – engine oil, coolant, hydraulic oil, transmission fluid, etc., depending on the forklift.
    Adjustments and minor repairs – tightening, replacing worn consumables and correcting faults found during the service.
    Service report – recording what was checked, any defects found and work carried out.Experience you will need:
    Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer or Maintenance Engineer
    Ideally, experience working with forklift trucks / material handling equipment
    Mechanical engineering or maintenance experience
    Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
    Full UK driving licence
    Good customer service and communication skills
    A professional and reliable approach to your work
    Your Package:
    Basic Salary: Up to £34,000
    OTE: £34,000+
    Hours: 40 hours per week, door-to-door
