How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new role

    Operating within the legal and procedural requirements of the criminal justice system and FC guidance.
    Case management of investigations, ensuring professional standards, legal and procedural requirements are followed, including exhibit retrieval and management.
    Be accountable for decisions and activities undertaken during investigations. These are subject to scrutiny and inspection by Senior Investigation Officers, the court system, and external authorities.
    Other duties as they become necessary, for example, gathering evidence, obtaining victim and witness statements, interviews of suspects under caution, scene searches and management, liaison with CPS and other relevant duties.
    Compiling high-quality case reports and evidential bundles for submission to the prosecutor.
    Building and maintaining effective working relationships within FC, Prosecuting Authorities, the Police and other external agencies, being mindful of disclosure principles.
    Some travel and potential overnight stays may be required.
    What you'll need to succeed

    Analytical and decision-making skills as they need to exercise sound judgement.
    Self-motivator; investigators must be comfortable working on their own and as part of a wider team environment.
    Possess excellent investigative and communication skills, ability to manage workload efficiently and delegate work.
    Candidates must be resilient and able to handle confrontation with confidence.
    Candidates should have experience of conducting criminal investigations, including a working knowledge of PACE, RIPA, POCA, Police Act and CPIA disclosure.
    This role requires recent experience of conducting criminal investigations and a thorough knowledge of Criminal Justice procedures.
    A competent IT user, with experience of the MS Office suite of applications, SharePoint, and the ability to learn new bespoke IT systems quickly.
