How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Print Production Operative

    OA are recruiting for a Senior Print Production Operative to join our client’s busy print production team in North West London.

    The Senior Print Production Operative will be responsible for operating digital printing and finishing equipment to produce high-quality printed materials, ensuring all jobs are completed accurately, efficiently and to customer specifications. This is a hands-on role covering both print production and post-print finishing processes across a variety of projects, including retail, events, sets and exhibitions.

    Location: North West London

    Hours: Monday-Friday. 9:00am-6:00pm

    Salary: £28,000 - £38,000 depending on experience

    Senior Print Production Operative Key Responsibilities

    • Set up and operate digital HP printers and Colorado printing equipment.
    • Monitor print quality and ensure equipment runs smoothly and efficiently, making adjustments where required.
    • Inspect printed materials for quality, accuracy and compliance with client specifications.
    • Carry out routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on printing equipment.
    • Troubleshoot and report any equipment or production issues to the Production Manager.
    • Maintain accurate records of print jobs, including quantities produced, materials used and any issues encountered, using the company Slack channel.
    • Ensure necessary materials and supplies are stocked and available.
    • Prepare, mount and laminate large-format graphics.
    • Set up and operate finishing machinery, vinyl plotters and laser cutters.
    • Finish a variety of materials, including large-format prints, vinyl and signage.
    • Ensure all finished products meet required quality standards and client specifications.
    • Inspect completed work and report any quality issues to management.
    • Ensure jobs are correctly packed and prepared for dispatch.
    • Carry out routine maintenance on finishing equipment.
    • Receive and check incoming supplies.
    • Follow production schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
    • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
    • Work closely with other team members to ensure a smooth workflow and timely completion of projects.
    • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment, ensuring tools, equipment and supplies are returned after use.
    • Ensure bins are not overflowing and walkways remain clear.
    • Adhere to all health and safety procedures at all times.
    • Keep up to date with developments in printing technology and industry practices to enhance knowledge and skills.

    Senior Print Production Operative Skills and Experience

    • Previous experience in a print production and finishing role is preferred.
    • Experience operating digital printing and finishing machinery.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence working with machinery.
    • Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple jobs and deadlines.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to follow production schedules and work efficiently within a busy production environment.
    • Experience with large-format print, vinyl, signage or related finishing processes would be advantageous.
    • NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Machine Printing and Print Finishing, or equivalent, would be desirable.
    • Forklift licence would be advantageous where applicable.

    Working Conditions

    • Based in a busy production environment with exposure to machinery noise.
    • The role involves standing for extended periods.
    • Regular lifting and handling of print materials and equipment is required.
