How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Maintenance Assistant

    Contract: Permanent

    Location: New Bradley Hall, Compton Drive, Kingswinford, DY6 9NS – 35 hours a week

    Various other schemes around the Black Country – 5 hours a week

    Hours: 40 hours per week

    Salary: £13.68 per hour

    We are looking for a reliable, practical, and proactive Maintenance Assistant to help maintain our care home and care schemes to a high standard. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in creating safe, comfortable, and welcoming environments for our residents, tenants, visitors, and staff.

    As a Maintenance Assistant, you will support the upkeep of our buildings, grounds, fixtures, and equipment, helping to ensure that our properties remain safe, clean, and compliant at all times

    Job Description:

    Duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

    Carrying out general repairs, maintenance, decorating, and refurbishment tasks across our care home and supported living schemes.

    Completing routine health and safety checks, including fire safety inspections.

    Maintaining accurate maintenance and compliance records.

    Ensuring buildings, equipment, and outdoor areas are safe, clean, and well presented.

    Supporting the upkeep of gardens and grounds.

    Working with external contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and to required standards.

    Responding to maintenance requests from managers and colleagues.

    Helping to create a comfortable, friendly, and homely environment for residents and tenants.

    Supporting compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, Safeguarding, CQC Fundamental Standards, and other relevant regulations

    Person Specification:

    Essential:

    Experience in a general maintenance role.

    Knowledge of basic building repairs, domestic refurbishment, and home improvement.

    A good understanding of health and safety requirements.

    Strong communication skills and the ability to work with older people and vulnerable adults.

    Good record-keeping and organisational skills.

    A proactive approach and the ability to manage their workload effectively.

    A full UK driving licence.

    The ability to undertake physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, bending, and moving equipment.
