How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Working closely with site outage teams, engineering functions, contractors and stakeholders, you will develop and manage integrated outage programmes, ensuring work is safely planned, efficiently sequenced and delivered to agreed timescales, quality standards and budgets.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead the planning and coordination of major planned outages, ensuring safety, programme, cost and quality KPIs are achieved.
Develop and manage integrated outage schedules, including milestones, critical paths, resources and contractor activities.
Coordinate with Site Outage Managers, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, H&S, Environmental and Finance teams.
Integrate contractor and supplier programmes into the overall outage schedule.
Monitor outage progress, identify programme risks and implement recovery actions where required.
Plan major inspections, overhauls, maintenance campaigns and emergent works within outage windows.
Optimise outage scope, sequencing and duration to minimise downtime and maximise plant availability.
Support budget forecasting, cost control, contract management and KPI reporting.
Apply effective project controls to manage changes and emergent work during outages.
Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and post-outage reviews.
Ensure outages are delivered safely and in accordance with Generation Safety Rules and statutory requirements.

    Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Proven experience in outage, project or maintenance planning within a large-scale industrial environment.
Experience planning major outages, shutdowns, inspections or overhauls, ideally within power generation or process industries.
Experience with large rotating plant and/or HRSG pressure systems is desirable.
Strong understanding of the outage lifecycle, from scope development and planning through to execution and close-out.
Minimum HNC qualification; engineering degree preferred.
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, CDM and environmental legislation.
Experience with budgets, cost control, contract management and project controls.
Good working knowledge of Generation Safety Rules and safe working principles.
Strong IT skills, including MS Office and planning systems such as Maximo, SAI 360, MS Project or Primavera.
Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work to fixed outage windows.

    Desirable Skills

Experience planning CCGT or large-scale power generation outages.
Experience with turbine, generator, HRSG or balance-of-plant maintenance programmes.
Primavera P6 or MS Project experience.
Strong contractor and stakeholder management skills.
Experience delivering outage planning improvements and best practice.
Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.

    Why Join?

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in planning and delivering major power generation outages, directly supporting plant availability, reliability, safety and business continuity.

You will work alongside experienced engineering teams and major contractors, with structured development opportunities to build your technical, planning and project management skills.

The role offers a competitive salary, pension, bonus, private medical insurance, incentive plan and 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays.
