How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Teach Now is recruiting a caring and patient SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a non-verbal pupil at a specialist primary school in Hertfordshire.

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will help the pupil communicate their needs, engage with learning, build confidence and develop greater independence throughout the school day.

    The role

You will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to provide consistent individual support, including:

    • Providing 1:1 support in lessons and across the school day.
    • Helping the pupil access learning and take part in classroom activities.
    • Using communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, visual prompts or AAC.
    • Recognising and responding to gestures, facial expressions, sounds and behaviour.
    • Supporting emotional regulation, transitions and positive behaviour.
    • Encouraging choice-making, communication and independence.
    • Working closely with teachers and SEN professionals to support progress.
    • Supporting personal care where required as part of the pupils individual plan.

    About you

The ideal SEN Learning Support Assistant will be calm, observant, compassionate and reliable.

Previous experience supporting non-verbal pupils, Autism, complex communication needs or SEN is highly desirable, and experience with PECS, Makaton or AAC would be an advantage.

    You should also be:

    • Patient and able to build positive, trusting relationships.
    • Flexible and willing to adapt your approach.
    • Confident working 1:1 and as part of a wider team.
    • Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and pupil independence.

What the school and role can offer

    • A supportive specialist primary school environment.
    • Valuable experience supporting complex communication needs.
    • Opportunities to develop practical SEN and communication skills.
    • Support from experienced teaching and SEN staff.
    • A rewarding long-term role where your support can make a genuine difference.
    • £90–£102 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications.

If you are passionate about helping children communicate, learn and develop, we would love to hear from you.
