Permanent | Rotating Shifts | Overtime Available
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing operation in Skelmersdale.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and machine modifications across a range of fast-paced, high-accuracy production equipment.
The Role
Carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance and fault finding
Respond to breakdowns and minimise production downtime
Modify and improve machinery where required
Diagnose faults and confidently improvise practical repairs when necessary
Maintain equipment ranging from conveyor systems to industry specific production machinery
Work closely with the production team to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently
About You
Experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance is essential
Candidates with a strong mechanical or electrical bias will also be considered
Ideally NVQ Level 3 qualified or equivalent
Experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment would be beneficial
Print industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential
Experience with milling and lathe work would be preferred
PLC and hydraulics experience is not essential
A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to find solutions and work with what is available
Full training will be provided on the site-specific machinery.
Shift Pattern
06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00, rotating weekly. Monday-Friday
You will initially work on day shifts before shadowing an experienced team member and moving onto shifts independently.
Salary & Benefits
£20.48 per hour
55p per hour shift allowance
Approx. £41,000 per annum
Overtime paid at time and a half Monday–Saturday
Double time on Sundays
