How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Single Homeless Project have a new opportunity for a Service Manager to join our team in Camden. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis,?and in return, you will receive a competitive salary starting at £40,508.80 and rising incrementally to £43,844.03 per annum.

Single Homeless Project is a London-wide charity. Our vision is of a society where everyone has a place to call home and the chance to live a fulfilling life.

We help single Londoners by preventing homelessness, providing support and accommodation, promoting wellbeing, enhancing opportunity, and being a voice for change. From supporting people in crisis to helping people take the final steps towards independence and employment, we make a difference to 12,000 lives every year across all 32 boroughs.

We offer you more than a job; we offer you a chance to be part of a compassionate, driven team that's committed to making a real difference in people's lives. You'll have the opportunity to lead, co-create, and inspire change while enjoying a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Join us in creating a brighter, more hopeful future for individuals in need.

    About the Service Manager role:

For someone moving away from rough sleeping, having a safe place to stay can be the first step towards something much bigger. Gray’s Inn Road is a 16 bed short stay service in Camden, giving people the stability, support and breathing space they need to begin rebuilding their lives and move towards a home they can sustain.

As Service Manager, you’ll lead the team that makes that possible. You’ll create a service where people are treated with dignity, listened to and supported as individuals, while giving your team the leadership, challenge and encouragement they need to do their best work. From the quality of assessments and support planning to safeguarding, risk management and move on, you’ll set the standard for practice and make sure residents receive consistent, psychologically informed support that responds to what matters to them.

You’ll also build the relationships that help people move forward. Working closely with housing, health, substance use, criminal justice and other partners, you’ll help remove barriers, strengthen pathways into support and create more opportunities for residents beyond the service. Alongside this, you’ll take ownership of the wider performance of Gray’s Inn Road – keeping a close eye on quality, outcomes, housing management, health and safety, budgets and contractual expectations, and always looking for ways the service can become even better.

    About you:

You’re an experienced and compassionate leader who knows how to get the best from a team, set clear standards and create a culture where both staff and residents can thrive.

You understand the realities of homelessness and multiple disadvantage, and can lead psychologically informed, person-centred practice that balances choice, independence, safeguarding and risk.

You’re confident navigating complex situations and making sound decisions, while supporting your team to stay curious, consistent and focused on what will make the biggest difference for each person.

You’re a natural relationship builder who can bring partners together, challenge when needed and create stronger pathways into housing, health and other support.

You’re comfortable taking ownership of the whole service — from quality and performance to housing management, health and safety and budgets — and you’re always looking for ways to make things work better.

    Our attractive benefits package includes:

A salary increase after successfully completing six month's probationary period

A 37.5 hour working week including flexible working hours (core hours are 10am – 4pm) in non-accommodation services

25 days annual leave, increasing annually to the maximum 30 days (plus paid Bank Holidays),

A contributory pension scheme: Single Homeless Project will contribute the equivalent of 5% of your annual salary

Staff Health Cash Plan and discounts scheme

Comprehensive and integrated training programme designed specifically to develop the skills and knowledge involved in our work

Closing Date: Sunday 20th September at midnight

Interview Date: Wednesday 30th September online via Microsoft Teams

Please note there will be a second stage interview in service in Camden for suitable candidates

This post will require an Enhanced DBS check to be processed for the successful applicant.

Please note applications are reviewed for AI use in application questions. Applications with insufficient/without current right to work or requiring sponsorship will not be accepted for this role.
