How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We are seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Disposal and Acquisition Surveyor to join a large Property and Development team within a local authority. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering the Council's regeneration, growth and place-shaping ambitions. The Council is going to be growing in size in the LGR.Working across a diverse property portfolio and development programme, you will provide professional surveying advice helping to maximise the value and potential of council-owned assets while supporting sustainable growth.
    The Role

    Lead and support development, regeneration and place making projects from inception through to delivery.
    Develop and produce asset management and investment strategies and programmes. Identify surplus and under-performing assets and develop appropriate value-add initiatives and/or disposal plans.
    Provide professional advice on planning, development viability, land acquisition and disposal opportunities.
    Manage property transactions including disposals, acquisitions, leases, easements and development agreements.
    Undertake site appraisals, valuations, option appraisals and feasibility studies.
    Work closely with Planning, Regeneration, Housing and Economic Development teams to support strategic objectives.
    Instruct and manage external consultants, surveyors, valuers and legal advisers.
    Negotiate with developers, landowners, agents and stakeholders to secure best outcomes for the Council and local communities.
    Prepare reports and recommendations for senior management, committees and elected members.
    Ensure all projects comply with relevant planning legislation, property law and local authority governance requirements.About YouTo be successful, you will have:
    Essential

    Degree in Estate Management, Real Estate, Planning, Surveying or a related discipline.
    Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)
    Experience of development, planning, regeneration or property-related projects.
    Significant post-qualification experience in the asset management of a wide range of land and property, both leasehold and freehold
    Significant experience in Landlord and Tenant matters, including law, principles, negotiation, valuation
    Significant experience of the investment market and analysing data to understand current conditions and trends
    Good working knowledge and experience of advising on investment acquisitions and development appraisals
    * Property disposals, acquisitions and strategic planning.
    * Landlord and tenant law and planning legislation.
    * Public sector environment and local government transformation.
    Knowledge of planning legislation, development processes and local authority property matters.
    Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
    Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
    Full UK driving licence and ability to undertake site visits as required.

    Desirable

    Experience within local government, public sector or regeneration environments.
    Knowledge of development viability, Section 106 agreements and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
    Understanding of compulsory purchase, regeneration funding or development partnerships.What We Offer
