How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Interim Business Analyst

Location: Flexible/London/Hybrid (Attendance at the office may be required)

    Salary: £400 – £500 per day

Vacancy Type: Freelance/Interim, Temporary Contract (September 2026 – January 2027), Part Time (3 Days per week)

    Closing Date: 18th September 2026

This vacancy is being advertised and managed by MemberWise Jobs on behalf of our client.

Recruiting ASAP and actively reviewing applications. If you are interested and have the appropriate skills and experience you are encouraged to apply soon.

The Royal College of Surgeons of England and JCST (Joint Committee on Surgical Training) are looking for an experienced interim Business Analyst to lead the review and analysis of its Portfolio Pathway processes – the route by which surgeons join the GMC’s Specialist Register outside standard UK training. This is a fixed-term, freelance engagement running from September 2026 to January 2027, at approximately three days a week.

Demand for Portfolio Pathway evaluations has been rising, and JCST wants to make sure its internal processes keep pace without compromising quality. You’ll map current workflows end-to-end, assess staff capacity and workload, and identify duplication, bottlenecks, and opportunities to streamline – all within a clearly defined timeline driven by GMC reporting deadlines running through to January 2027.

You’ll work closely with Project Management Office (PMO) and Business Analyst team throughout the engagement. The PMO will take a lead role in stakeholder engagement and the later implementation-planning stages, so you’ll be working collaboratively rather than driving those elements independently – a good fit for someone comfortable supporting as well as leading, depending on the phase.

    What You'll Deliver

An agreed project scope and delivery approach
End-to-end process maps of current Portfolio Pathway workflows
A capacity and workload assessment, highlighting risks and pressure points
An operational analysis identifying inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities
    A findings and recommendations report
Support for the PMO in shaping the resulting implementation plan
    Key responsibilities:

Confirm project scope and delivery approach with key internal stakeholders
Map current Portfolio Pathway processes and touchpoints end-to-end
Assess capacity, workload distribution, and use of expertise across the team
Identify duplication, bottlenecks, risks, and improvement opportunities
Support stakeholder engagement to help validate findings and inform recommendations, working closely with the PMO
Produce a findings and recommendations report
Support the Project Management Office in shaping the resulting implementation plan
    What we’re looking for:

Strong process mapping and operational analysis experience, ideally blended with project management skills
A track record of delivering against fixed deadlines, with the discipline to manage your own workload across a part-time, multi-month engagement
Experience with, or a good understanding of, membership bodies, professional regulators, or healthcare/medical training environments is an advantage
A collaborative style – you’ll work closely with the PMO and Business Analyst team throughout, particularly on stakeholder engagement and implementation planning, so comfort supporting as well as leading at different stages matters
Why this role: it’s a well-scoped, time-limited piece of work with clear deliverables and a defined end date – a good fit if you enjoy getting under the skin of an organisation’s processes without the commitment of an open-ended contract.

    Equal Opportunities Statement
