A welcoming mainstream secondary school in Brent is seeking three dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistants to provide targeted support across KS3, KS4 and KS5. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive SEN team and make a meaningful difference to students who need additional help accessing learning, building confidence and developing independence.
The Role
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff to:
• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support in mainstream classrooms.
• Help students access the curriculum and participate positively in lessons.
• Support students with communication, emotional regulation and confidence.
• Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and greater independence.
• Adapt support to meet individual learning and pastoral needs.
• Monitor students progress and communicate concerns to relevant staff.
• Build professional, trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
Requirements
The successful SEN Learning Support Assistant will be:
• Calm, patient, committed and emotionally resilient.
• Confident engaging professionally with secondary-aged students.
• Able to use initiative and respond appropriately to individual needs.
• Consistent when managing behaviour and reinforcing expectations.
• Empathetic, adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable. However, candidates with the right attitude, resilience and genuine passion for inclusive education are also encouraged to apply.
