How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Health & Safety Advisor

    Location: Scottish Borders

    Salary: Competitive salary + package

    Health & Safety Advisor – Scotland

    An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a well-established and growing civil engineering and construction business delivering major projects.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor who wants to work in a hands-on position, supporting operational teams across a varied portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

    As Health & Safety Advisor, you will work closely with Site Managers, Project Managers and senior management to promote a positive health and safety culture and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with current legislation.

    The Health & Safety Advisor role will include:

    Providing professional health and safety advice to site teams and management.

    Carrying out regular site inspections, audits and safety tours.

    Supporting the development and implementation of RAMS.

    Reviewing risk assessments, method statements and relevant documentation.

    Assisting with incident, accident and near-miss investigations.

    Monitoring compliance with health and safety legislation and company procedures.

    Supporting site teams with toolbox talks, briefings and training.

    Identifying areas for improvement and implementing practical corrective actions.

    Working closely with Project and Site Managers to ensure safe systems of work are maintained.

    Assisting with internal reporting, inspections and H&S performance monitoring.

    Supporting the continual development of the company's health and safety culture.

    The ideal Health & Safety Advisor will have:

    Previous experience within a Health & Safety role within construction or civil engineering.

    NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.

    IOSH membership would be advantageous.

    Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and CDM Regulations.

    Experience carrying out site inspections and audits.

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    A practical, proactive approach to health and safety.

    The confidence to challenge unsafe practices and work positively with site teams.

    A full UK driving licence.
