How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Configuration Manager - Nuclear / Highly Regulated Engineering

    Location: Reading Hybrid - 3 days per week on site
    Contract: 12 months
    Rate: Up to £80 per hour Inside IR35
    The Role

    As a Configuration Manager, you will take responsibility for establishing, maintaining and improving configuration management arrangements across complex engineering projects and assets.
    Working as an embedded member of client delivery teams, you will provide oversight and leadership throughout the project lifecycle, identifying gaps, resolving configuration issues and supporting the successful completion and handover of safety-critical systems.
    You will work across multidisciplinary engineering environments involving electrical, mechanical, HVAC, process, control & instrumentation, civil and structural systems. The role requires a proactive, solutions-focused individual who can build strong relationships, challenge effectively, mediate technical issues and take ownership of problems through to resolution.

    Key Responsibilities
    Your responsibilities will include:

    Establishing and maintaining registers of managed configuration baselines.
    Performing gap analysis to confirm that appropriate baselines have been identified, established and controlled.
    Establishing and maintaining baseline owner registers and ensuring accountability for the quality of baseline information.
    Integrating configuration management activities with project, engineering and lifecycle delivery teams.
    Ensuring configuration baselines are accurately maintained throughout project delivery and handover.
    Establishing, implementing and maintaining formal configuration management audit processes.
    Developing and improving configuration management procedures and their integration with change management processes.
    Identifying configuration gaps, non-conformances, blockers and open points and driving them through to resolution.
    Supporting configuration control of engineering and project documentation.
    Establishing and documenting the As-Found Condition of systems and assets in preparation for completion and handover.
    Supporting document management and information and knowledge management processes.
    Reviewing design changes for compliance with configuration management requirements.
    Providing oversight of contractual deliverables and interfaces within established handover processes.
    Producing Configuration Management KPIs, status reports and closure strategies.
    Facilitating and mediating issues across multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
    Supporting the final completion, acceptance and handover of systems into operations.
    Highly Desirable Experience

    Nuclear safety-critical systems and associated legislation, standards and directives.
    Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, mechanical handling, process, ventilation, civil or structural engineering.
    Systems integration across complex facilities.
    Strong practical knowledge of configuration management within complex engineering projects.
    Experience supporting projects through construction, completion, commissioning and handover.
    Understanding of configuration baselines, change control, documentation control and design assurance.
    Design verification and validation across the engineering V-cycle.
    Equipment Qualification and engineering substantiation.
    FMECA, HAZOP and HAZID activities.
    Plant and documentation configuration management.
    Nuclear safety cases and Structures, Systems and Components classification.
    Radiological, seismic, fire, flooding and other safety hazard considerations.
    Safety Instrumented Systems.
    Commissioning and handover preparedness.
    Construction project lifecycle management.
    Commercial and project management awareness.
