How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role
We are looking for a caring, patient and reliable Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to support male learners within a specialist Post-16 education setting.
The setting supports young people with learning disabilities and physical disabilities, providing a supportive environment where learners can develop their independence, confidence and life skills as they prepare for adulthood.
The successful candidate will provide a combination of personal care, physical support and day-to-day assistance, working closely with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure learners are supported safely, respectfully and with dignity.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with SEND and wants to make a genuine difference to their daily lives and development.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Providing respectful and sensitive support with personal care, including toileting, personal hygiene, dressing and other daily living needs.
    * Supporting male learners with their individual care and support requirements throughout the college day.
    * Assisting learners with mobility and physical needs, including moving and handling where required.
    * Supporting learners to safely access classrooms, activities, communal areas and the wider college environment.
    * Encouraging learners to develop independence and life skills, supporting them to do as much for themselves as possible.
    * Providing practical support during lessons and activities where required.
    * Building positive and trusting relationships with learners while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
    * Supporting learners who may have communication, sensory, emotional or behavioural needs.
    * Following individual care plans, risk assessments and support plans.
    * Working closely with teachers, support staff, therapists and other professionals to provide consistent support.
    * Promoting learners' dignity, choice, privacy and independence at all times.
    * Supporting learners with their preparation for adulthood, including developing confidence and practical daily living skills.
    * Following safeguarding, health and safety, moving and handling and infection-control procedures.
    About You
We are looking for someone who is:
    * Caring, patient and compassionate.
    * Confident supporting young people with learning disabilities and/or physical disabilities.
    * Comfortable providing personal care in a professional, respectful and dignified manner.
    * Able to support learners with physical and mobility needs.
    * Calm and patient, particularly when supporting learners who may have complex needs.
    * A good communicator who can adapt their approach to meet individual needs.
    * Reliable, professional and able to work effectively as part of a wider team.
    * Committed to promoting independence, dignity and choice.
    * Able to follow individual care plans, risk assessments and professional guidance.
    * Willing to undertake relevant training, including moving and handling where required.
    Experience
Previous experience working with young people or adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, SEND or additional needs would be highly desirable.
Experience of personal care, support work, education, residential care, healthcare or similar environments would also be beneficial.
However, we would consider candidates with transferable experience who demonstrate the right attitude, patience and commitment to supporting young people. Training can be provided where appropriate.
    Why Join Us?
This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a specialist Post-16 setting where the focus is on helping young people develop the skills, confidence and independence they need for adulthood.
You will work alongside an experienced team and gain valuable experience across SEND, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, personal care and preparation for adulthood.
    Safeguarding
The successful applicant will be required to complete appropriate safer recruitment and safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check, before commencing the role.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment.
If you are caring, dependable and passionate about supporting young people to develop their independence, we would love to hear from you.
