How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Permanent Role 

    I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Cost Engineer to join a growing precision engineering manufacturer based in Tewkesbury.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in CNC machining, process planning, manufacturing engineering, and component costing who enjoys combining technical expertise with commercial decision-making.You'll play a key role in supporting the business's quotation and manufacturing strategy by developing accurate cost models for complex machined components.Working closely with Engineering, Operations, and Commercial teams, you'll be responsible for analysing customer requirements, defining manufacturing routes, estimating machining times, and ensuring quotations are both competitive and profitable.

    Key Responsibilities

    Costing precision machined components from customer drawings and CAD models
    Developing manufacturing routes and process plans
    Estimating CNC milling and CNC turning cycle times
    Costing raw materials, tooling, fixtures and subcontract processes
    Supporting quotation and bid activities
    Identifying opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement
    Reviewing designs for manufacturability (DFM)
    Working closely with production and supply chain teams to validate costs and lead times

    What We're Looking For

    Experience within a Cost Engineering, Estimating, Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering role
    Strong understanding of CNC milling and turning operations
    Experience costing complex machined components
    Knowledge of engineering materials including aluminium, stainless steel, titanium and exotic alloys
    Understanding of heat treatment and finishing processes
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
    Commercial awareness and strong analytical skills
    Experience within aerospace, defence, medical or precision engineering environments would be highly advantageous
