How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

North London | Hybrid Working Available

I’m currently working with a well-established structural engineering practice in North London that is looking to bring an experienced Senior Structural CAD Technician into its small and growing team.

This is a great opportunity for a technician who enjoys being heavily involved in the technical delivery of projects and wants to work within a close-knit consultancy where your experience will genuinely be valued.

    The Role

The position is predominantly CAD-based, with around 95% of your workload being AutoCAD. Revit experience is not essential, making this a particularly good opportunity for an experienced CAD technician who has perhaps been put off roles that place too much emphasis on BIM.

You’ll work closely with the engineers and wider design team, producing detailed structural drawings across a varied portfolio of projects.

    The project workload includes:

    High-end residential properties
    Hotels
    Refurbishment and alteration projects
    Office refurbishments
    Schools and education projects
    Domestic housing
New-build developmentsThe projects vary in size and complexity, so there is plenty of opportunity to use your technical knowledge rather than simply producing repetitive drawings.

    About You

We’re looking for someone with solid experience as a Structural CAD Technician, ideally within a UK structural engineering consultancy.

    You should have:

    Strong AutoCAD skills
    Good structural detailing knowledge
Experience producing structural drawings for construction
A good understanding of building structures and construction methods
The ability to work independently and take ownership of your drawings
Experience working closely with structural engineers
Good communication skills and attention to detailRevit is not essential – the priority is finding someone who is genuinely strong technically in AutoCAD.

    The Consultancy

You’ll be joining a small, established structural engineering team, giving you the opportunity to work closely with senior engineers and have a genuine influence on project delivery.

The company offers a friendly, collaborative environment, varied project exposure and hybrid working, providing a good balance between flexibility and being part of the team.

If you’re an experienced Structural CAD Technician looking for a role where AutoCAD remains the primary tool, rather than being expected to become a full-time Revit technician, this could be an excellent fit
