How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary School
    Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them achieve their full potential?
    We are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Perry Barr, Birmingham, seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from October 2026.
    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or a candidate with proven experience supporting pupils with SEN within a secondary school environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.
    About the Role
    As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support, including those with a range of special educational needs and additional learning barriers. You will help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported.
    The role is full-time and has the potential to continue on a long-term basis for the right candidate.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Provide tailored support to students with SEN across KS3 and KS4
    * Support pupils both within the classroom and through targeted interventions
    * Promote positive behaviour and engagement with learning
    * Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external professionals
    * Encourage the development of social, emotional, and communication skills
    * Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils and families
    * Monitor and record student progress and wellbeing
    * Contribute to creating an inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive
    The Ideal Candidate Will Have
    * Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Inclusion Support Worker, Behaviour Mentor, or similar role
    * Experience supporting students with SEN in a secondary school setting
    * A patient, caring, and resilient approach
    * Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    * The ability to build positive relationships with young people
    * Good literacy and numeracy skills
    * The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team
    * A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
