How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Skilled CNC Turner

    Location: Accrington, Lancashire
    Salary: £16.50 - £19.00 per hour (depending on experience)
    Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 6:55am - 4:55pm

    The Opportunity

    An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled CNC Turner to join a busy and established precision engineering environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC turning machinery to manufacture high-quality components to customer specifications.

    This role would suit an experienced machinist who is confident working from engineering drawings, maintaining tight tolerances, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the machine shop.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program, set and operate CNC turning machines using Fanuc controls.
    Follow tooling sheets and offline programming instructions.
    Download, manage and save CNC programs following successful inspection of machined parts.
    Operate manual machining equipment when required.
    Read and accurately interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
    Change tooling and adjust offsets to maintain tolerances and drawing requirements.
    Monitor product quality and productivity throughout the manufacturing process.
    Work towards production targets and customer delivery deadlines.
    Maintain high standards of housekeeping and minimise waste.
    Follow all health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
    Identify opportunities for process improvements and continuous improvement activities.
    Report machine, quality or safety concerns to management.
    Ensure work areas and equipment are kept clean and organised.Candidate Requirements

    Minimum of 4 years' experience operating CNC turning machines.
    Strong knowledge of Fanuc control systems.
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
    Experience working to tight tolerances and quality standards.
    Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.
    Able to work independently and as part of a team.
    Strong focus on quality, productivity and health & safety.Benefits
