How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Welder Fabricator

    Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm
    Overtime: Available
     
    About the Company

    Our client is a specialist engineering and manufacturing business producing high-quality, reliable and safety-critical products and equipment. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Coded Welder / Fabricator to join their workshop team in Burwell, Cambridgeshire.

    Job Responsibilities

    Carry out MIG/MAG and other specified welding processes in accordance with approved procedures. 

    Fabricate components and assemblies to engineering drawings, weld symbols, specifications and tolerances. 

    Complete welding on structural, mechanical and fabricated components. 

    Prepare, fit, tack and accurately weld components prior to final welding. 

    Work strictly to approved drawings, specifications, welding procedures and work instructions. 

    Check dimensions, alignment, weld appearance and overall workmanship. 

    Identify and report defects, discrepancies or non-conforming materials/components. 

    Rework defective welds or assemblies in accordance with authorised instructions. 

    Ensure completed work meets required quality, safety, integrity and traceability standards. 

    Work effectively with fabrication, machining, assembly, engineering and quality teams. 

    Minimise rework, scrap and unnecessary material usage. 

    Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S within the workshop.  

    Skills & Qualifications

    Ability to operate and maintain welding equipment. 

    Ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols and technical specifications. 

    Good knowledge of metals and their properties under heat. 

    Understanding of quality standards and manufacturing requirements. 

    Knowledge of design and development. 

    Experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment. 

    Recognised and current welding certification, such as ISO, BS, City & Guilds, NVQ or another recognised industry standard. 

    Candidates who are not currently coded but have suitable experience may be considered for training and qualification. 

    Summary

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Coded Welder / Fabricator to join a growing engineering and manufacturing business in a hands-on workshop role. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality welded and fabricated components while working to engineering drawings, specifications and strict quality and safety requirements
