How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An established and growing fire safety consultancy is looking for an experienced Fire Risk Assessor to join their team in the North West. This is an excellent opportunity for a competent Fire Risk Assessor seeking autonomy, varied projects and continued professional development.

    The successful Fire Risk Assessor will undertake assessments across a broad portfolio of predominantly low-risk commercial properties, providing clients with clear, proportionate and practical fire safety advice.

    The Fire Risk Assessor's Role

    The Fire Risk Assessor will manage their own workload and travel to client sites across the UK, producing detailed assessments and professional reports in line with current legislation and recognised industry guidance.

    Responsibilities will include:

    Completing suitable and sufficient fire risk assessments across commercial premises
    Identifying fire hazards and recommending appropriate risk-control measures
    Producing clear reports, action plans and remedial recommendations
    Advising landlords, facilities teams, contractors and other stakeholders
    Supporting clients with improvements to fire safety arrangements
    Maintaining knowledge of current UK fire safety legislation and best practice
    Contributing to internal quality assurance and assessment validation processes

    The Fire Risk Assessor

    The successful Fire Risk Assessor will ideally have:

    Previous experience carrying out commercial fire risk assessments
    A recognised fire risk assessment qualification at Certificate / Level 3 or above
    Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, guidance and standards
    Membership of a recognised fire safety professional body or competent assessor register would be advantageous
    Excellent written communication and report-writing skills
    The ability to work independently and manage multiple appointments
    A full UK driving licence
    Flexibility to travel, with occasional overnight stays
