How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Laboratory Specialist – Microbiology PM Shift

We are looking for a Laboratory Specialist with a strong interest in microbiology, laboratory testing and environmental monitoring to join a growing Quality Control laboratory environment.

This position would particularly suit someone who enjoys being hands-on in the laboratory, working with agar, analysing microbiological results and supporting the ongoing control of clean and controlled manufacturing environments. You will work across both microbiology and chemistry activities, although the primary focus will be microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, endotoxin and sterility assurance.

As a Laboratory Specialist, you will support routine microbiology testing and the site's environmental monitoring programme, including sampling, agar preparation and handling, incubation, colony assessment, trending and investigation of unexpected results.

You will support the environmental monitor programme across controlled areas, helping ensure sampling activities are completed accurately and that agar plates and associated microbiological data are correctly documented, reviewed and trended.

The Laboratory Specialist will also support endotoxin testing, sterility assurance activities and microbiological testing performed internally or through approved external laboratories. This will include reviewing results, supporting investigations and ensuring testing is completed in accordance with approved laboratory procedures.

Alongside microbiology, you will gain exposure to routine chemistry activities including solution analysis, solution release, stability studies and laboratory method activities. Experience of both chemistry and microbiology would therefore be particularly valuable.

You will support laboratory investigations including deviations, out-of-specification results and unexpected agar or environmental monitoring findings. You will contribute to root cause investigations and corrective actions while developing your understanding of Quality and cGMP requirements.

The role will also involve supporting laboratory equipment calibration and qualification, method development and transfer, analyst training and accurate laboratory documentation.

As a Laboratory Specialist, you will work closely with Quality and Operations while supporting continuous improvements in microbiology, environmental monitoring and general laboratory practices.

You should have a basic understanding of ISO 13485, Quality Systems and cGMP, combined with the ability to work accurately and consistently within a regulated laboratory.

    Key Skills & Experience

    * Degree or equivalent experience in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.

    * Hands-on microbiology laboratory experience.

    * Environmental monitoring / environmental monitor experience.

    * Experience preparing, handling, reading or assessing agar plates.

    * Understanding of endotoxin testing and sterility assurance.

    * Experience investigating unusual agar, environmental monitoring or laboratory results.

    * Basic knowledge of ISO 13485, Quality and cGMP.

    * Experience with laboratory documentation, deviations and investigations.

    * Chemistry or solution-testing experience would be advantageous.

    * Comfortable working independently as a Laboratory Specialist while collaborating with wider Quality and Operations teams.

    Benefit

    - 15% Shift Allowance

    - 10% Annual Bonus

    - 36 Days Annual Leave

    - Private Health Care

    - Annual Salary Review up to 5%

This is an excellent opportunity for a Laboratory Specialist who enjoys practical laboratory work and wants to develop broader experience across microbiology, agar, environmental monitoring, sterility assurance and chemistry within a regulated environment
