How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Product Owner

    £35,000 – £40,000 | Manchester | Hybrid – 3 days onsite

You’ve been involved in product decisions. Now you want the opportunity to make them.

Maybe you’re a Business Analyst who wants more influence over the solution. A Product Analyst ready for more ownership. Or you’re already working in Product but feel capable of doing more than managing someone else’s backlog.

This could be the step you’ve been looking for.

You’ll join a scaling Tech4Good business where you’ll have the opportunity to take problems from initial discovery through to delivery, working directly with customers, users, designers and software engineers along the way.

Rather than simply being handed requirements and turning them into tickets, you’ll get involved in understanding the problem in the first place.

What does the customer actually need? What’s causing the friction? What should the journey look like? What should be prioritised – and why?

You’ll then have the ownership to help turn those answers into solutions.

That could mean speaking directly with customers to gather requirements, mapping user journeys, shaping a solution with design and engineering, prioritising the backlog and making decisions when different stakeholders are competing for the same development capacity.

As you build your understanding of the products, customers and wider business, you’ll be trusted with increasing autonomy to make those decisions yourself and influence future product direction.

    What you'll bring

You don’t need years of experience as a Product Owner, and Product Owner doesn’t need to be your current job title.

    You could currently be a:

    • Business Analyst
    • Product Analyst
    • Associate Product Owner
    • Product Specialist
    • Product Owner
    • Or working in another role that has given you meaningful exposure to software product development

You’ll need experience working within an Agile software or digital product environment, with a good understanding of requirements gathering, prioritisation, backlogs and tools such as Jira.

You’ll also need to be comfortable working directly with software engineers and communicating with a range of stakeholders. That includes having the confidence to ask questions, challenge constructively and make decisions when priorities compete.

Experience with customer discovery, journey mapping, design thinking or product growth would be useful, but you don’t need to tick every box.

What matters more is that you’re curious, adaptable and ready to take more ownership.

The team is collaborative and the boundaries between roles aren't rigid. If there's a problem to solve, you'll be encouraged to get involved rather than being limited by what's written in your job description.

So, if you’re doing well in your current role but have started wondering “what’s the next step?”, this could be it.
