How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Debt Advice Caseworker (Ex-Offender Support)

    Bridlington & Scarborough

    Up to £30,000 per annum + mileage

    Full-time, Permanent

    Job Description:

    We are recruiting for an experienced Debt Advice Caseworker to support individuals with complex financial circumstances, including problem debt, benefit issues and financial instability. Working across probation services, community activity hubs and prison settings, you will provide practical debt and money advice to help people regain financial control and work towards long-term stability.

    This role is ideal for candidates with experience delivering debt advice, money guidance or welfare support within organisations such as Citizens Advice, housing associations, local authority welfare teams, debt charities or similar support-focused environments.

    Please note: this is not a debt collection, enforcement or commercial finance role. We are specifically seeking candidates who have experience supporting people with problem debt and financial hardship.

    The role involves:

    • Managing a caseload of individuals and providing tailored debt and money advice
    • Conducting full financial assessments, including income, expenditure and debt reviews
    • Supporting clients to prioritise debts and develop realistic repayment plans
    • Negotiating with creditors, landlords, utility providers and enforcement agencies
    • Providing guidance on benefits, entitlements and financial support options
    • Helping individuals improve budgeting skills and financial resilience
    • Maintaining accurate and compliant case records
    • Working across community locations and prison environments as required

    You’ll need:

    • Proven experience delivering debt advice, money guidance or financial inclusion support
    • Experience within Citizens Advice, debt charities, housing, welfare advice or similar services
    • Strong knowledge of problem debt, budgeting, creditor negotiations and benefit systems
    • Experience supporting vulnerable or socially excluded individuals, including ex-offenders
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
    • Ability to effectively manage a caseload and maintain accurate records
    • A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle
    • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and security clearance vetting
