Employment Lawyer (7+ years PQE)
Full Time | Senior Level | Hybrid Working
About the Role
This is a real opportunity to step into a highly regarded Employment Department, one known across the market for the quality of its client service and its ability to turn complex employment issues into commercially sensible outcomes. The department sits firmly within the firm's future plans, and it's growing, which means the person who takes this on won't just be managing a caseload, they'll be helping to shape what comes next.
Why Join This Firm
The firm has built a name for itself by bringing in individuals who are sharp, driven and genuinely interested in doing things well, not just competently. That reputation now works in the firm's favour: solicitors regularly move across from other practices, and a fair few return after time away.
The culture backs this up. It's an ambitious, close knit place to work, where people are trusted to get on with things, encouraged to speak up, and given the flexibility to work in a way that suits them. The firm is proud to hold the LEXCEL Practice Management Standard and features in both the Legal 500 and Chambers Guides, a reflection of the standards it holds itself to.
What the Role Involves
- Running a broad caseload across all areas of employment law, with particular strength in respondent side matters, corporate support, wrongful and unfair dismissal, redundancy and restructuring, restrictive covenants and general advisory work
- Balancing day to day transactional demands with more strategic, advisory input, all delivered to a high standard of accuracy
- Bringing an existing client base with you, ideally centred on London and the surrounding areas, while continuing to build new relationships
- Playing an active, hands on role in growing the department, including generating your own ideas for its future direction
- Leading and supporting colleagues within the team, with genuine scope to take on management responsibility
- Keeping client care and commercial thinking at the centre of your approach
What We're Looking For
- A qualified solicitor with 7 or more years' PQE in employment law
- Strong technical grounding across employment law generally, with solid experience in respondent based work
- An established client following, ideally with links to London and its surrounding regions
- A genuine appetite for business development and growing a practice area, rather than simply maintaining one
- Confident leadership and management skills, alongside a collaborative, team focused mindset
- Sharp commercial judgement and a client first attitude
- Someone motivated, organised and comfortable juggling a busy and varied workload
What's on Offer
- Hybrid working, with flexible hours and office base for any role that can be done remotely
- A "You Day" scheme, compressing contractual hours into 9 days a fortnight and freeing up the 10th day entirely for you
- Bonuses and competitive reward
- Generous annual leave, plus enhanced paid leave
- Private Medical Insurance with Bupa and support for your physical health
- A health cash plan, including an Employee Assistance Programme and dedicated support for mental health
- Life assurance and a broader financial wellbeing offering
- Ongoing professional development, with real investment in your growth
- A wellbeing programme and opportunities to get involved in the local community
- Perks and discounts from major retailers
- A genuinely supportive and close knit culture
This firm holds itself to a high standard, and that's precisely what's helped it become a sustainable, profitable business that people genuinely want to be part of. If you've got the drive to go the extra mile for clients and colleagues alike, and you're ready to help build something, this could be the right next step for you.
