How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Biology Lecturer - Northampton (Post-16)

    Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
    Start Date: September 2026
    Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term or Permanent

    DBS: Enhanced DBS on the Update Service required

    Are you an experienced Biology Teacher or Lecturer looking for a new opportunity within a post-16 environment?

    We are currently working with a well-established education provider in Northampton that is looking to appoint a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Biology Lecturer from September 2026.

    This role would suit someone who is passionate about their subject and enjoys helping young people develop their knowledge, confidence, and practical skills. Applications are welcomed from experienced FE lecturers, sixth-form teachers, qualified teachers, and suitable candidates from scientific or industry backgrounds with relevant teaching experience.

    About the Position

    The successful Biology Lecturer will be responsible for delivering an engaging and well-structured programme of study to post-16 learners.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Delivering high-quality Biology teaching to students aged 16+
    Teaching across relevant Level 2 and Level 3 programmes, depending on experience
    Preparing learners for examinations and practical assessments
    Planning lessons that encourage participation, independent thinking, and strong subject knowledge
    Delivering practical and laboratory-based Biology sessions safely and effectively
    Adapting teaching approaches to accommodate different learning needs and abilities
    Providing regular assessment, feedback, and progress updates
    Supporting students with their academic development and future progression
    Maintaining a positive, professional, and inclusive learning environment
    Working alongside colleagues to develop and improve the Science curriculum
    Taking part in departmental meetings, enrichment activities, and wider college initiatives

    What We're Looking For

    The ideal candidate will have:

    A degree or equivalent qualification in Biology or a relevant scientific discipline
    Previous experience teaching Biology, ideally within an FE, sixth-form, college, or other post-16 environment
    Strong knowledge of Biology and confidence delivering both theoretical and practical content
    A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTLS, Cert Ed, or equivalent is desirable
    Excellent communication and classroom management skills
    The ability to build positive relationships with students and encourage them to achieve their potential
    A professional, reliable, and adaptable approach
    A genuine interest in developing students' academic and career prospects
    An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update ServiceWe are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have a strong Biology background and are keen to work with young people in a post-16 setting.
