How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Chemistry Lecturer - Northampton (Post-16)

    Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
    Start Date: September 2026 (or earlier if available)
    Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term

    DBS Requirement: Must hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service

    Do you have experience delivering Chemistry to students aged 16+ and the ability to inspire learners to achieve their full potential?

    We are working with a well-regarded post-16 education provider in Northampton seeking a committed and enthusiastic Chemistry Lecturer to join their team from September 2026.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Chemistry teacher, FE lecturer, science graduate, or industry professional with relevant teaching experience to work within a supportive post-16 environment.

    The Role

    As a Chemistry Lecturer, you will:

    Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality Chemistry lessons to post-16 learners
    Teach Chemistry across relevant Level 2 and Level 3 programmes, including GCSE and/or A Level where appropriate
    Prepare students effectively for examinations, coursework, practical assessments, and progression
    Develop practical and theoretical Chemistry skills through engaging teaching
    Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities and backgrounds
    Monitor, assess, and track student progress, providing appropriate support and intervention
    Maintain high standards of learner behaviour, engagement, attendance, and achievement
    Contribute to schemes of work, curriculum development, and departmental planning
    Support enrichment activities and wider opportunities within the Science/Chemistry curriculum
    Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide an outstanding learning experience for students

    The Ideal Candidate

    You will:

    Hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or a closely related subject
    Have experience teaching or delivering Chemistry to learners aged 16+
    Ideally hold a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTLS, Cert Ed, or equivalent, although relevant experience may be considered
    Have strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging Chemistry lessons
    Be confident delivering practical Chemistry and supporting students with laboratory work
    Demonstrate excellent classroom and learner-management skills
    Be passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their academic and career goals
    Be organised, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a teaching team
    Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
    Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the DBS Update ServiceApplications are welcomed from experienced Chemistry Teachers, FE Lecturers, Science Lecturers, graduates, and relevant industry professionals with suitable teaching or training experience.
