How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Data Integration Engineer

    Location: Birmingham

    Hybrid Working

    Permanent Full Time
    Salary: up to £50,000

We’re looking for a Data Integration Engineer to join a growing Data & Analytics function, taking ownership of the design, development and ongoing improvement of integrations across a complex enterprise technology landscape.

This is a hands-on technical role with a broader remit around how data moves between systems, applications and platforms. You’ll work across APIs, ETL processes, integration tooling and master data, while helping establish the standards and governance needed to create reliable and scalable data flows across the organisation.

    The Role

As a Data Integration Engineer, you’ll work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to understand integration requirements and translate these into effective technical solutions.

You’ll be responsible for designing and implementing integrations between a range of systems, ensuring data moves accurately, securely and efficiently. Alongside delivery, you’ll play an important role in improving the organisation’s wider approach to integration architecture, master data management and data governance.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Designing, developing and implementing data integrations across multiple systems and applications
Building and maintaining API-based integrations and ETL/ELT processes
Working with stakeholders to capture business requirements and translate them into technical requirements and solution designs
Monitoring existing integrations and identifying opportunities to improve performance, reliability and efficiency
Troubleshooting integration issues, identifying root causes and implementing appropriate fixes
Supporting the development and implementation of Master Data Management (MDM) practices across critical business data
Developing technical solutions that improve data quality, accuracy, consistency and integrity
Contributing to integration governance, standards and best practices
Helping establish consistent approaches to how integrations are designed, documented and maintained
Supporting and providing technical guidance to data practitioners and users across the wider organisation
Challenging existing ways of working and identifying opportunities to improve the integration landscape
    What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with proven experience working as a Data Integration Engineer, Integration Developer, Integration Specialist or within a similar technical integration-focused role.

    Expectations:

Strong experience designing and implementing integrations between enterprise systems
Hands-on experience working with APIs, including REST-based integrations
Good knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and data integration principles
Experience working with data integration or middleware platforms
Understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) principles and approaches
Good knowledge of data governance, data quality and data integrity
Experience translating business requirements into technical requirements and solution designs
The ability to capture requirements using structured user stories
    Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
The ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Strong organisational skills with the ability to take ownership of integration projects from requirements through to delivery
    Desirable Experience
    Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC)

    Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)
    Boomi
    Informatica
    Fivetran
Similar enterprise integration, iPaaS or data integration platforms
Experience working within Agile delivery environments using Scrum, sprint-based delivery or Kanban would also be beneficial.

    The Opportunity

This is a strong opportunity for an Integration Engineer who wants more than simply building point-to-point integrations.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence how integration is approached across a large technology environment, helping shape standards around APIs, data movement, master data and governance while remaining hands-on with the technical delivery.

If you are interested in this opportunity and would like to hear more, please apply for the opportunity with an updated CV and contact information
