How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Personal Tax Accountant – Develop Your Expertise

    Location: Wimborne, Dorset
    Salary: £26,000–£32,000 DOE
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Enjoy personal tax and ready to take your knowledge further?

Whether you’re looking to specialise or build on your existing tax experience, this opportunity offers varied client work, exposure to more complex tax matters and full study support towards ATT and CTA qualifications.

We’re recruiting for an established and growing accountancy practice in Wimborne, where you’ll help individuals, high-net-worth clients, sole traders and landlords navigate their personal tax obligations.

You’ll build relationships, develop your technical skills and work towards managing your own client portfolio—with ongoing learning and progression opportunities along the way.

    What You’ll Be Doing

Preparing and submitting Self Assessment Tax Returns for a varied portfolio.
Helping clients with personal tax queries and providing practical advice.
Gaining exposure to buy-to-let property, foreign income, residency and Capital Gains Tax.
Liaising directly with clients and HMRC to resolve queries and enquiries.
Keeping client records accurate and ensuring compliance deadlines are met.
    Building trusted, long-term client relationships.
Developing towards responsibility for your own portfolio.

    What You’ll Bring

You enjoy getting the details right, explaining things clearly and helping clients make sense of their tax affairs.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

Ideally, at least two years’ experience within an accountancy practice.
Hands-on experience preparing Self Assessment Tax Returns.
A good working knowledge of UK personal tax compliance.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Confidence communicating with clients and HMRC.
    A proactive, commercially minded approach.
Experience using tax or accountancy software and Microsoft Office.
IRIS experience and an ATT qualification—or progress towards ATT—would be an advantage, but neither is essential.

    What’s in It for You?

    £26,000–£30,000 salary, depending on experience.
Full ATT and CTA study support to help you progress professionally.
A generous study budget and ongoing CPD.
Opportunities to develop your career and manage your own client portfolio.
    Flexible working options.
    Additional leave.
    On-site parking.
    Cycle-to-work scheme.
    Company events and referral incentives.
    Employee discounts and additional benefits.
This could be your next step if you’re a Tax Assistant, Personal Tax Assistant, Accounts Assistant or Accountant with relevant practice and Self Assessment experience, looking to build a career in personal tax.
