As a key part of our logistics and supply chain department, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating sea freight and road freight shipments, ensuring efficient and timely import/export operations. You will support the distribution of our temporary steel fencing products to both domestic and international markets.
The Role
As a Seafreight Import Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating sea freight and road freight shipments, ensuring efficient and timely import/export operations. You will support the distribution of temporary steel fencing products to both domestic and international markets.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of sea freight shipments, including booking cargo, arranging transport and ensuring compliance with shipping regulations
Prepare and manage necessary documentation, such as Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists and Certificates of Origin
Ensure full compliance with customs regulations for both imports and exports, submitting declarations and working with customs brokers where required
Submit documents for import and export customs clearance and ensure documentation is passed to relevant departments for road deliveries in and out of the UK, Ireland and Europe
Track shipments, maintaining accurate status updates and providing regular progress reports to internal teams
Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers and other logistics providers
Resolve issues that may arise during shipping, such as delays, damage, or customs holds, and implement solutions effectively
Monitor freight costs, negotiate competitive rates with suppliers and ensure shipments stay within budget
Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure sufficient stock levels and help coordinate customer orders and stock management on internal systems
Assist with customer enquiries related to shipping schedules, delays or delivery updates
Requirements
Essential
Previous experience in a sea freight/logistics role
Strong understanding of sea freight logistics, import/export documentation and customs clearance processes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with external vendors, freight forwarders and internal teams
A high level of accuracy, especially when preparing and reviewing shipping documents
A proactive approach to resolving issues in the shipping process
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Experience with shipping/logistics software
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Able to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently when required
Desirable
Relevant certifications in logistics, shipping or import/export
