How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Software Developer in Test
    Salary: £60,000-£70,000 (depending on experience)
    Location: Banbury / Hybrid
    Travel: Occasional travel to London
    Reporting to: Lead Software Developer in Test

    We're working with an organisation that provides software solutions that help police forces and local authorities enforce and track traffic and parking offences, manage permits and licences, and control high-risk assets.

    You’ll help define and maintain testing standards within your team. You’ll be expected to write and maintain code, contribute to code reviews and help set the standard for high-quality engineering.

    What You’ll Be Doing:
    Lead testing activities within your engineering team.
    Contribute directly to the software codebase.
    Design, write and maintain automated tests.
    Help define and maintain testing standards and approaches.
    Contribute to code reviews and promote high engineering standards.
    Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
    Contribute to CI/CD and release processes.
    Work with complex and sometimes confusing legacy applications.
    Contribute to the design and delivery of high-quality software.
    Bring your own ideas and opinions around how software should be tested and how quality can be maintained.What you'll bring:

    Strong hands-on coding skills in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
    Experience writing automated tests.
    Experience building and running CI/CD pipelines.
    Experience designing and delivering high-quality software.
    Experience working with complex legacy applications, or a willingness to get stuck into them.
    Strong opinions around how software should be tested and quality assured.
    A willingness to challenge existing approaches and contribute ideas.
    The ability to form opinions based on experience and evidence, while remaining open to changing your approach when presented with conflicting data
