How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you a Senior Project Manager with experience managing technical assurance, engineering information or complex project processes?

Can you coordinate technical teams, manage large volumes of assurance information and ensure the right evidence is in place for the successful handover of major infrastructure?

Salary: £94,842.00 – £(phone number removed) including flexible fund
    Location: Milton Keynes
Working pattern: Full time, minimum 3 days per week in the office
    Employment type: Permanent

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager to join HS2 and support the Engineering and Technical Assurance function across a major section of the programme.

As the project progresses from major civil engineering delivery towards completion and eventual railway handover, HS2 must ensure there is a complete and robust assurance record demonstrating that assets have been designed, constructed, tested and handed over correctly.

You will not personally undertake detailed technical assurance reviews, you will manage the people, processes, interfaces and programme required to move a significant volume of engineering and assurance information through the appropriate review, acceptance and close-out processes.

    Essential requirements

Significant project management experience within major infrastructure, engineering or construction.
Experience managing technical assurance, engineering processes, design management, project close-out or a similarly complex technical workflow.
Strong process management skills with the ability to coordinate large volumes of information across multiple teams.
Excellent people and stakeholder management skills.
Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering or technical stakeholders and holding individuals accountable for actions and deadlines.
Sufficient technical understanding to communicate confidently with engineers and understand construction and engineering terminology without needing to be a technical specialist.
Strong understanding of project delivery processes from design and construction through to completion and handover.
Understanding of CDM Regulations within a construction or infrastructure environment.
Previous experience within a client-side or project management consultancy environment.
    NEC3 or NEC4 experience.
Ability to identify the wider project impact of delayed or incomplete assurance information.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple interfaces, dependencies and priorities.
    Nice to have

Experience working on major rail, highways, nuclear or other complex infrastructure programmes.
Experience of project completion, close-out, commissioning or asset handover.
Experience working with digital engineering or information management teams.
Understanding of project controls and Earned Value Management, including CPI/SPI.
Experience managing assurance records required for the long-term operation and maintenance of infrastructure assets.
The successful candidate will need to see beyond individual documents and understand the bigger picture of why technical assurance is critical to successful project completion.

You will provide the project management discipline that enables engineering specialists to complete their assurance responsibilities, ensuring information moves through the correct processes and ultimately forms a reliable record of how the infrastructure was designed, constructed and accepted.

This is an excellent opportunity to join HS2 at a key transition point and play an important role in successfully closing out and handing over one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes.

If you have strong project management skills combined with technical assurance, design management, or engineering process experience, please apply with a copy of your CV
