How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A leading international intellectual property firm is looking to appoint an Electronics & Technology Technical Specialist to join its UK team. The firm works with some of the world's most innovative technology-led businesses and has a strong reputation for handling complex technical and intellectual property matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a STEM graduate or technically experienced professional to develop their career within a specialist IP environment, with a strong emphasis on technical expertise rather than traditional legal work.

The successful candidate will focus primarily on the technical side of intellectual property, working closely with patent attorneys and clients on a range of electronics and emerging technology matters. You will use your technical knowledge to understand, analyse and communicate complex technologies, with exposure to areas such as semiconductors, telecommunications, electrical engineering, software and other high-tech technologies.

Previous IP experience would be beneficial but is not essential, making this an attractive opportunity for graduates with a strong electronics or technology background.

    Responsibilities:

    • Analysing and understanding complex electronics and technology concepts
    • Supporting patent attorneys with technical aspects of patent applications and prosecution
    • Reviewing technical documentation, specifications and inventions
    • Conducting technical research across emerging technology areas
    • Working alongside patent attorneys to assess and communicate technical concepts
    • Assisting with the preparation and development of technical patent material
    • Developing an in-depth understanding of clients' technologies and innovations
    • Keeping up to date with developments across electronics, engineering and emerging technologies
    • Communicating complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

    Requirements:

    • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or a related STEM discipline
    • Strong technical understanding of electronics and/or high-tech technologies
    • Genuine interest in innovation, emerging technology and intellectual property
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts
    • Strong attention to detail and an ability to work with technical documentation
    • Previous experience within intellectual property would be beneficial but is not essential
    • Open to recent graduates as well as candidates with relevant technical or IP experience
