How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

They now seek an EC&I Engineer to join their busy team and support projects across the business.

    EC&I Engineer - Key Responsibilities

    * Ensure control systems are designed, installed and tested to meet client specifications and relevant national/international standards, including compliance with harmonised standards for CE/UKCA marking (Machinery Directive, Low Voltage Directive, EMC Directive, ATEX, etc. where applicable).

    * Carry out design risk assessments with the engineering team to determine required control system Performance Levels, and demonstrate that system design and operation meet safe systems design and certification requirements.

    * Provide controls input into Functional Design, and support the Project Engineer in producing design documentation including P&IDs/PFDs, control & instrument drawings, single line diagrams and instrument schedules/data sheets.

    * Create purchase requisitions and equipment/instrument procurement specifications, and liaise with sub-contractors to ensure third-party design, manufacture and testing meet specified standards.

    * Produce and file documentation per the company's Quality Management System, and provide information to Project Managers to support commercial control and delivery against key milestones.

    * Contribute to the development and update of company standards relating to control systems, electrical installations and software.

    * Support workshop personnel and technicians with installation, inspection and testing of control systems, including set-up of PLCs, VSDs and instrumentation.

    * Discuss technical aspects of equipment control systems with clients, including site visits/meetings in the UK and overseas.

    * Produce documentation for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and Installation/Operation Qualification (IQ/OQ), and provide documentation and technical support to installation and commissioning engineers.

    Key Skills & Experience

    * Control system specification, design and implementation, ideally for special purpose machinery, with general mechanical/process knowledge.

    * Computer literate (MS Office), with experience using AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD Electrical or Eplan.

    * Ability to read and implement electrical and pneumatic control system drawings, and design control systems for integration into machinery or industrial systems.

    * Experience setting up, testing and commissioning control systems, and verifying system conformance using P&IDs, FDS and GAs.

    * Knowledge of PLCs and HMIs in industrial automation applications, and experience with VSDs/other programmable controllers and process parameter optimisation.

    * Experience using Performance Level (PL) assessments for safety-related control systems, and testing C&I components/circuits with safety significance.

    * Fault identification and corrective action, plus instrumentation loop checks.

    * Knowledge of BS EN harmonised standards for the Machinery/Low Voltage/EMC Directives and 18th Edition Electrical Installations (BS7671).

    * Experience with control systems/components for potentially explosive atmospheres (e.g. ATEX) or other hazardous environments, including intrinsically safe circuits.

    * Awareness of GAMP 5 and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 (computerised systems compliance/validation for pharmaceutical manufacturing) is an advantage.

    Personal Characteristics

    * Excellent communication and team interaction skills.

    * Approachable, and happy to guide and support less experienced members of the team.
