How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Digitalisation Intern

    Closing Date: 30th September 2026

Location: Bristol (Science Creates, Old Market)

    Job Type: Internship – Fixed-Term (3–5 months)

    Salary: Competitive

    About the Role

We’re hiring a Digitalisation Intern to help modernise and streamline our laboratory and materials processes – how we capture, manage and use experimental data across our R&D activities. This is a hands-on, project-focused role at the intersection of scientific research, software development, and digital infrastructure.

Over a 3–5 month placement, you’ll work closely with our research and technical teams to identify manual or paper-based workflows and build practical digital solutions to improve them — from data capture and storage through to automation and analysis. You will bring fresh ideas, help embed new tools, and make a tangible impact on how efficiently our facilities operate. If you’re passionate about technology, problem-solving, and making things happen, we’d love to hear from you.

    • Supporting the development and integration of digital infrastructure to connect lab systems and data sources

    • Documenting solutions clearly so they can be maintained and scaled by the wider team

    Technical Support & Delivery

    • Working closely with scientists and engineers to understand technical requirements and translate them into digital solutions

    • Testing, refining, and rolling out tools with clear objectives and timelines in mind

    • Preparing short reports and demonstrations of your work for internal teams
