How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Real Estate Litigation Associate

    Location: Newcastle

Firm: Leading UK & International Law Firm

Salary: Lucrative Salary + Excellent Benefits

    The Role

If you’re a Real Estate Litigation Lawyer looking for a role where you can build your expertise, work with household-name clients and be part of a supportive national team, this could be the next step up in your career you're looking for.

This international firm is looking to appoint a Real Estate Litigation Associate to join its established and growing national Real Estate Litigation team in Newcastle, where flexible and hybrid working is not just something that is talked about but actually put into practice.

The work is centred around real estate litigation, with a particularly strong corporate occupier client base across the retail sector. You’ll work with well-known names including major retailers and brands, alongside significant telecoms clients. The team handles a broad range of property disputes, including asset management, dilapidations, lease renewals, forfeiture, landlord and tenant issues and telecoms work, with the opportunity to develop your knowledge across areas where you may not yet have experience.

The team is set up to support development, with access to experienced lawyers and dedicated Real Estate paralegal support, alongside a real emphasis on giving people the opportunity to learn and take ownership of their work. Whether you’re looking to develop your technical expertise as a junior lawyer or are a more experienced lawyer seeking senior progression, the team is open to supporting the right person and helping you build on your existing experience.

    The Work

    • Advising corporate occupiers, landlords and other clients on a broad range of commercial property disputes.
    • Acting on opposed and unopposed lease renewals.
    • Advising on contractual and statutory notices.
    • Handling dilapidations disputes and settlement negotiations.
    • Advising on asset management issues and landlord and tenant disputes.
    • Dealing with forfeiture, possession, rent arrears and landlord remedies including CRAR.
    • Advising on restrictive covenants, break options, rights of way and boundary disputes.
    • Handling trespass, nuisance and other commercial property disputes.
    • Developing experience in telecoms property litigation, working with major telecoms operators.
    • Advising on property issues arising from insolvency.
    • Managing your own matters and taking responsibility for delivering high-quality client service.
    • Working closely with the transactional Real Estate team on matters arising from property deals and development.
    • Developing relationships with existing and new clients and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

    Your Experience

    • English & Welsh Qualified Solicitor with 2+ PQE in Real Estate Litigation
    • Experience in areas such as lease renewals, dilapidations, landlord and tenant disputes, forfeiture, possession, rent arrears or property-related litigation.
    • Strong technical ability combined with a practical and commercial approach.
    • Comfortable taking ownership of your matters while knowing when to seek support.
    • A positive, collaborative approach to working with colleagues and clients.
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
    • Clear interest in developing a long-term career within Real Estate Litigation.

    Why This Role?

    • Join an established national Real Estate Litigation team within a leading UK and international law firm.
    • Work with an impressive portfolio of household-name corporate occupiers and major telecoms clients.
    • Broad commercial property litigation exposure, with the opportunity to develop into specialist areas.
    • A team with low turnover and a supportive culture.
    • Strong training and development, with experienced lawyers willing to invest in your progression.
    • Access to dedicated real estate paralegal support and wider Legal Operations and Business Services teams.
    • National team structure with opportunities to work across offices and with colleagues across the wider Real Estate practice.

If you’d like to discuss the role confidentially, please contact Tilly Scott on 0131 460 7747 or tilly@jmc-legal.com.
