How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary School | Newbury

    Academics is working with a number of welcoming and inclusive secondary schools in Newbury that are looking to recruit dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants. These schools are committed to providing a supportive learning environment where every student is encouraged to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.

    The Role

    As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to provide tailored support to students with a range of additional learning needs.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Supporting students with SEN in the classroom to help them access learning and achieve their individual goals.
    Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning plans and behaviour support strategies.
    Working one-to-one and in small groups to build students' confidence, independence and engagement.
    Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to monitor progress and adapt support where needed.
    Promoting a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
    Providing personal care or mobility support where required.
    Maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with school staff and parents.What We're Looking For

    Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable but not essential.
    A caring, patient and resilient approach.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
    Qualifications in education, childcare or SEN are advantageous but not required.
