How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About Alford House

    Alford House is a youth club in Kennington providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive space where young people can meet, build relationships, develop skills and take part in positive activities.

    We are expanding our programme and are looking for a Creative Spaces Youth Worker to help us develop the creative and educational side of our provision.

    This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young people and who can bring creativity, energy and new ideas into a busy community youth setting.


    About the role

    The Creative Spaces Youth Worker will develop and deliver creative and educational opportunities for young people, complementing our existing sport, gym and open-access provision.

    You will help create opportunities for young people to explore their interests, develop confidence and skills, express themselves and have a genuine voice in shaping activities at Alford House.


    Key responsibilities

    • Deliver creative and arts-based activities for young people.
    • Support homework and educational activities.
    • Deliver or support dance and movement activities.
    • Support the use of our music studio and other creative spaces.
    • Develop opportunities for young people to express themselves and develop their interests.
    • Lead or support youth voice and participation projects.
    • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
    • Contribute to our wider open-access youth work programme.
    • Record attendance, engagement and outcomes appropriately.
    • Work collaboratively with youth workers, volunteers and the wider Alford House team.
    • Follow Alford House safeguarding, health and safety and professional standards.

    About you

    We are looking for someone who:

    • Has experience of working with children and young people.
    • Can build positive, respectful relationships with young people.
    • Has experience of facilitating creative, arts, music, dance or educational activities.
    • Is confident creating engaging activities that young people want to participate in.
    • Understands the importance of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
    • Is reliable, organised and able to work as part of a team.
    • Brings enthusiasm, creativity and a willingness to contribute ideas.

    A Level 2/3 Youth Work qualification, arts/dance qualification or teaching/tutoring experience would be desirable, but we are also interested in people who can demonstrate strong relevant experience.

    • £14.80 per hour – London Living Wage
