Our client, a successful, stable & established company based in the Stockport area, is seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger specialist to join their small finance function and become a key member of their finance family!!
Your new role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership and making a real impact. You will have full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the purchase ledger, ensuring supplier payments are processed accurately and on time while maintaining strong working relationships across the business.
Working within a close-knit team, you'll enjoy a varied role that goes beyond traditional purchase ledger duties, with involvement in stock management, month-end activities, and providing support to the wider finance function. This position would suit a proactive individual who takes pride in delivering accurate work, improving processes, and keeping the department running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Take full ownership of the end-to-end purchase ledger process.
Process, code, and match supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
Record purchases (stock) and maintain accurate stock records within the system.
Reconcile supplier statements and investigate any discrepancies if they arise.
Prepare and process supplier payment runs..
Maintain accurate supplier account records.
Handle supplier queries in a personable & professional manner, building positive working relationships.
Assist with month-end processes, including reconciliations and accruals.
Support the Finance Manager and wider finance team with reporting and record keeping.
Quarterly stock reconciliations.
Adhoc office finance assistance.
What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience within a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable position.
Experience working with stock systems or stock control processes would be advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Confident using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Able to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines.
A proactive and organised approach, with a willingness to take ownership and suggest improvements.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and colleagues.
