How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Assistant Maintenance Engineer

    Salary: £30,000 per annum

    Location: Andover

    Full time and Permanent

    Hours: Monday - Thursday 7am-4pm and Friday 7am-3pm

    Benefits Package: 23 days holiday plus bank holidays. Company pension scheme (eligibility after a 3-month probationary period).

    I have been requested by our Client, a well-established specialist manufacturer supplying protective equipment into the Military, Police, and Security sectors, to recruit an Assistant Maintenance Engineer to join their team and play an important role in keeping a wide range of machinery and equipment operating safely and efficiently.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong mechanical and electrical background who enjoys problem-solving, preventative maintenance and working across a varied range of equipment.

    The Role

    As an Assistant Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the maintenance and efficient operation of a diverse range of machinery and systems, including steam boiler heating systems and hydraulic presses.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Developing a strong working knowledge of all site equipment and machinery.
    Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems.
    Diagnosing faults and taking ownership of problem-solving and root cause analysis.
    Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
    Prioritising and managing your workload to meet operational requirements.
    Supporting preventative maintenance activities to minimise downtime.
    Ensuring all maintenance work is completed safely and to a high standard.
    Following Health & Safety, quality and administrative procedures.
    Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
    Communicating effectively with colleagues and other departments regarding maintenance requirements.About You

    The successful candidate will ideally have:

    A minimum of 4 years' experience in a maintenance engineering role.
    Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
    Experience working with electro-mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics.
    Good experience of machinery maintenance and fault finding.
    Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    A good understanding of Health & Safety regulations within a maintenance environment.
    A proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.
    A full, clean driving licence, as occasional travel between two sites will be required.Qualifications

    City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
    A recognised engineering apprenticeship is desirable.
    Good knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety within a maintenance environment.What's on Offer?
