How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Graduate Structural Engineer

    Location: London
    Hours: 35 hours per week

    Are you a recent structural or civil engineering graduate looking to begin your career within the built environment? An exciting opportunity is available for a Graduate Structural Engineer to join an established Structural Engineering team, supporting the delivery of high-quality projects while developing practical, technical and professional experience.

    As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers, learning on the job while taking increasing responsibility as your knowledge and confidence develop. You will also continue your technical development through CPD and training, working towards the qualifications and experience needed to progress your career.

    What you'll be doing

    The Graduate Structural Engineer will support a varied range of structural engineering activities, including:

    Preparing technical calculations and engineering models
    Producing technical drawings, specifications and schedules
    Supporting risk assessments and RIBA design stage reports
    Liaising with members of the Design Team
    Attending project meetings alongside senior colleagues
    Reviewing third-party design information
    Assisting with site surveys and subsequent reports
    Supporting project administration and maintaining high-quality project information

    What we're looking for

    For this Graduate Structural Engineer opportunity, you'll need a degree in structural or civil engineering. You'll bring strong problem-solving, written communication and people skills, alongside an understanding of building construction and the role of structural and civil engineers within a Design Team.

    Familiarity with Microsoft Office and awareness of software such as TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer and Revit would also be beneficial. A UK driving licence is advantageous.
